Well I finally bought the GBA...and the $99 I spent was well worth it. I picked up Castlevania Circle of the Moon since Castlevania is one of my favorite video game series. Here's the rundown of Castlevania CotM. Dracula is once again resurrected by his loyal minion Carmilla, so as Nathan Graves,
(a vampire hunter student) it is your task to vanquish Dracula once again and to save your teacher Morris Baldwin. Morris Baldwin's son, Hugh Baldwin, another vampire hunter also attempts to save his father...Just to let you know the teacher chose Nathan to hold the legendary vampire killer (the infamous whip that killed Dracula so many times by other vampire hunters) and of course Hugh, being the teacher's son is jeoulous...ok tht'a all I'll reveal, you'll have to play the game to see how it relates to the game. Well anyways the gameplay is actually a very fun action kind of game like the original Castlevania's mixed with RPG elements (i.e. you build up your levels, eqip items and accessories dropped by enemies, perform magic and best of all summon!!! like Griffon, Thunderbird, Salamander and Serpent to name a few.)CotM is similar to Symphony of the Night on the PS (most of the enemy sprites are taken directly out of the PS version) but what seperates this game from most Castlevania games is the DSS system or Dual Setup Setup; throught out the game you find very rare cards that allow you to perform many useful spells or increase your attributes depending on how you combine them (you combine 2 card which produce some kind of magic or attribute effect) and combining cards is really exciting because it's fun to find out what kind of effect you'll receve with different card combinations (Mars Card+Serpent Card=Ice sword). The only disadvantage with the game is it's
hella dark to see, even in a well lit room (play under a lamp or buy a GBA light accesory to help remedy this). Even though it's 2-D the grahphics are awesome and so are the monsters.
The Castle is HUGE (lot of exploration and hidden rooms) and so is the replay value (when you beat the game a different mode i.e. magician mode becomes availiable, and again thief mode, shooter mode etc.) If you have time to kill or plan to do a lot of traveling you gotta have a GBA and you have to buy this game!!!
